Two more days until the Weekend jubilee

  • Visitors will be able to use ubeRIKŠAs as well as Rog Pony and Nextbike bicycles
  • Jon Laurence, the best digital editor of British Channel 4 is coming to Rovinj

Zagreb, September 19th, 2017 – We are only two days away from the start of the jubilee edition of the Weekend Media Festival, the biggest communication and media event in South Eastern Europe, which will take place at the old tobacco factory in Rovinj from September 21st until September 24th. The tenth edition will be marked by the best yet and richest program, and over 45000 participants will be able to enjoy its numerous lectures and panel discussions.

One of the lectures to look out for is ONE ON ONE: How to Get Big Audiences for Serious News, where Jon Laurence, head od the award-winning digital team at Channel 4, will explain how to get attention from the audience of 16 to 34 years of age with platforms used by for very serious and demanding news.

The Baby You Can Drive My Car panel will host Uber, FlixBus, Nextbike Turo and HEP representatives with a discussion on the future of transport and alternative solutions as well as ne2w transportation service models.

Weekend participants will also be able to try out a couple of alternative transportation models around Rovinj. One of these models is the ubeRIKŠA, Uber’s rikshaw service which will be free of charge and available only during the festival, as well as the one-time-only promotion of Turo, which will also be offering their services in Croatia for the first time. The other two transportation options will be Rog Pony and Nextbike which will offer free bicycle rides.

A large part of the jubilee Weekend will be dedicated to Nordic countries which are the paragon of development, new technologies and regional cooperation. Mary Gestrin of the Nordic Council of Ministers will talk about the Nordic practices and Andres Granberg will tell us more about Facebook’s investment in Sweden which became a turning point for the Nordic countries.

Along with serious topics and discussion, the festival’s rich repertoire and the tenth anniversary celebration will start on Thursday, September 21st with a big opening party. Friday, September 22nd, is reserved for Sajsi MC by Lampshade Media, after which we will party with „Naspavat ću se sutra“: Nipplepeople, Nik Orosi & Pill Jackson by Jägermeister. The grand finale will be held on Saturday, September 23rd with Neno Belan and Fiumens who will play Đavoli.
